How To: DIY Cork Board

I've been collecting corks for a crafty cork board project for what feels like ages. I finally found this great frame at the Santa Cruz Flea Market, and with a little bit of TLC, it turned out to be just the the finishing touch I was looking for. I love finding hidden gems that have so much potential with a fresh coat of paint.

{I popped off the canvas and sprayed the frame with a few coats of bright white paint. I'm also collecting frames for an additional wall project that I'll show you soon.}

{I used the original canvas as a backboard and glued each cork with hot glue, following the pattern above.}

Just a Few of My Favorite Things: Spring

Happy Wednesday! Just a quick post to say hello and share a few of the little things that are making me happy this week. 

1. Pastel denim is officially on repeat.

2. Petty flowers I picked up at the market to bring some color to my apartment.

3. A "love" necklace that I found at Urban Outfitters last week for just $12. 

Rainbow Sherbet

Today was the perfect spring day. On my lunch break I took a quick walk outside and was pleasantly greeted by singing birds, sunshine and a warm breeze. There are precisely two times during the day when the lighting is just magical: early morning and just before sunset. Yesterday my boyfriend and I ran outside to snap a few photos just before sunset in hopes of catching the last of the magic hour, but not before stopping to pick up some pink flowers of course.

Home Sweet Home

Our home doesn't have an official living room space, so my roommate and I got creative and worked with what we had to create a mini common area in our foyer. With a cozy bench and some handmade chevron print pillows that I found on Etsy, we turned our hallway into a space that can be used as a gathering place when we have guests come by. We added a tray to our coffee table which provides a stylish place to organize pretty books and candles. I look forward to adding to our growing collection of coffee table books. The garland (also from Etsy) is probably our favorite addition, it's the type of thing we can only get away with having in an all-girl household. The soft colors and the hint of sparkle add just the right amount of brightness to our neutrally colored space. I also added a few finishing touches to my bedroom, my favorite being the fuzzy white pillow on my bed.

On another note, I'm loving the extra hour of sunshine this week, it truly makes all the difference!

Last night I went down to the Embarcadero to view the amazing new light installation on the Bay Bridge. It was truly magical. I ate dinner with a view of the lighted bridge and couldn't take my eyes off of the show for the entire meal. Watch the video in my link for a live experience, but it's something that's so fun to bundle up and watch in person.
